Family & friend reunions

FAMILY OR FRIENDS RE-UNION with the Groups Company tend to be instigated by a special event; an anniversary, a birthday, which sees a family or a group of friends coming together to celebrate. The family might all come from the UK, or they may be living in different parts of the world and be coming together just for this special event.

The idea might be to stay in one location, with the main contribution of the groups company just to arrange the complexities of bringing the family members in from many different countries. Or, once re-united, the group may then travel to several locations of your choice before going their separate ways at the end of the re-union.

Whether the group stays put once together, or travels as a group once re-united, is up to you. You and your group choose the style of re-union you want.

A typical day...
The first day of a reunion group holiday, or the second day if day one is taken up with everyone flying in from possibly different directions, is a day with little in the way of organised activities. This is a day to get to know each other and catch up on news and gossip. A lengthy dinner in the evening draws everyone together to talk about the plans for the rest of the holiday.

Succeeding days will depend on whether the group is travelling all day to a different locale or staying in situ for the day. Sightseeing visits to local points of interests can be tailored to the interests of the group. However since the interests of the group may be disparate, as family ties or bonds of friendship link the participants rather than necessarily common interests, it is often a good idea to keep pre-planned sightseeing to a minimum and decide at the time which excursions may appeal to some, if not all, members of the group.

A variation which may appeal is the element of surprise. All the members of the group may think they know who else is coming, but, as group organiser, you may wish to include some family members, or friends, in the party without telling the rest of the group. An unexpected arrival in the middle of dinner one night can provide a little extra excitement to the holiday. The groups company can arrange for the surprise arrivals to be hidden away until it is time to spring them upon the rest of the group.

Whether you choose to stay put or travel to several locations; include a lot or a little sightseeing, announce the guests or keep back a few surprise visitors is up to you.

You and your group decide the style of family re-union you want.

Sample itineraries ...
The itineraries below are intended only to give an indication of what might be possible in a particular country, following an itinerary catering for a particular special interest.
 .
No details of meals or accommodation are included in the itineraries as it would be your decision, at the planning stage, as to what is included. You would decide whether your tour included all meals, just Bed and Breakfast, or Bed and Breakfast plus some lunches or dinners at certain points on the itinerary. Similarly you would decide what standard of accommodation you wanted to use.

The itineraries detailed are deliberately short ones. It is intended to give a flavour, an outline, of an itinerary.  If you have more time, then extra time can be built into each stop on the itinerary, and additional places of interest and overnight stops can be added. Lengthening the itinerary, to 10 days or two weeks, for example, and adding further night-stops will enrich your journey; shown below is just a brief skeletal itinerary as a basis for discussion and more detailed planning.
