Theatre

THEATRE holidays with the Groups Company appeal to people who want to combine their love of drama with a taste for overseas travel. The aim of a theatre group may be to visit a number of locations where particular plays may be seen, or to visit theatres or performances in dramatic, unusual or historically important settings.

Alternatively a theatre group may wish to take a more active approach to their holiday. After perhaps watching a number of plays of note, or taking in a festival for example, the group may wish to end their tour with a performance by the group in a historical or prestigious setting, such as, for example, an amphitheatre at a site of dramatic and historical importance, perhaps enacting a play in  situ, at the site where the author actually set the drama.

Whether your group watches other actors performing, or decides to perform themselves is your choice.
You and your group choose the style of theatre holiday that you want.

We operate Theatre Tours to the following destinations:-
Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, & Turkey

A typical day...
After a leisurely breakfast your day might start with a visit to a location of interest, such as a famous theatre, the home of a playwright of interest, or the place where a play of note was set. Or, if your group is taking an active, performing role in the holiday, morning might see rehearsals for what is to follow in a few days.

After lunch, another visit to a site of interest or more rehearsals may take you through to late afternoon. If your group is travelling on an itinerary involving several changes of location then travel would usually replace the morning activities. The evening, whenever your itinerary allows, might see your group attending a performance at a theatre of note, or apart of a festival if this has been built into your itinerary.

If your group is intending to perform at the end of the holiday then rehearsals might take up more time during the last days of the tour, before a performance on the last night, perhaps in a spectacular setting arranged through the groups company.

Taking along your friends or family to provide the audience for this performance can add an extra dimension to the holiday, and will also, since costs fall as your group becomes larger, reduce the per person price of your holiday.

For a really memorable end to your holiday you might want to have the performance filmed; the groups company can supply a professional cameraman to facilitate this, leaving you with a permanent record of your group’s overseas performance.

Whether you decide to concentrate on watching and visiting locations of theatrical interest, or to rehearse and perform as a group on a more active version of a theatre holiday, is decided by you at the planning stage. You and your group decide the style of theatre holiday that you want.

Sample itineraries ...
The itineraries below are intended only to give an indication of what might be possible in a particular country, following an itinerary catering for a particular special interest.
 .
No details of meals or accommodation are included in the itineraries as it would be your decision, at the planning stage, as to what is included. You would decide whether your tour included all meals, just Bed and Breakfast, or Bed and Breakfast plus some lunches or dinners at certain points on the itinerary. Similarly you would decide what standard of accommodation you wanted to use.

The itineraries detailed are deliberately short ones. It is intended to give a flavour, an outline, of an itinerary.  If you have more time, then extra time can be built into each stop on the itinerary, and additional places of interest and overnight stops can be added. Lengthening the itinerary, to 10 days or two weeks, for example, and adding further night-stops will enrich your journey; shown below is just a brief skeletal itinerary as a basis for discussion and more detailed planning.
