Painting Tours

PAINTING TOURS with the Groups Company appeal to those who want to be sure they have the time, during the itinerary to spend at a perfectly chosen spot and capture the essence of the view on canvas. A leisurely itinerary will be planned then, as much of the day will be taken up sketching or painting; the timings of the days will reflect this. Itineraries will visit areas of interest because of the subject matter or the light and itineraries will reflect the need for time painting.

Some groups prefer an itinerary which includes a resident artist with the group; a chance to learn. He or she may even give talks or lectures. Visits to art galleries or locations linked with famous artists may be included. Others simply want to know that they will be taken to locations well-chosen for their artistic possibilities where they can work at their masterpiece.

You and your group choose which style of painting tour you prefer.

We operate Painting Tours to the following destinations:-
Argentina, Albania, Bolivia, Botswana, Cambodia, Chile, China, Croatia, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Caribbean, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Egypt, Finland, France, Greece, the Greek Islands, Iceland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mali, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Syria, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, U.S.A., Vanuatu & Vietnam.

A typical day ...
After a leisurely breakfast, a short drive will bring us to the spot we have chosen for the morning session. This will have been chosen by you, by the artist accompanying the group, if you have chosen to have one, or by our local advisors. The session may be a short sketching period after which we may move on to lunch. If a lengthy session is required to do justice to the subject, or the requirements of the medium, then lunch may signal a break in what is an all-day stop. Lunch may be at a restaurant or in the form of a picnic at the site of our work.In the afternoon we may continue to a second site or continue working where we are. On our arrival at, or our return to, our night stop we may just relax over dinner or perhaps enjoy a talk  or a critique from the artist travelling with the group, if this is a part of your plans. Long or short sessions, locations of our selection or yours; the choice is yours.

Sample itineraries ...
The itineraries below are intended only to give an indication of what might be possible in a particular country, following an itinerary catering for a particular special interest.
 .
No details of meals or accommodation are included in the itineraries as it would be your decision, at the planning stage, as to what is included. You would decide whether your tour included all meals, just Bed and Breakfast, or Bed and Breakfast plus some lunches or dinners at certain points on the itinerary. Similarly you would decide what standard of accommodation you wanted to use.

The itineraries detailed are deliberately short ones. It is intended to give a flavour, an outline, of an itinerary.  If you have more time, then extra time can be built into each stop on the itinerary, and additional places of interest and overnight stops can be added. Lengthening the itinerary, to 10 days or two weeks, for example, and adding further night-stops will enrich your journey; shown below is just a brief skeletal itinerary as a basis for discussion and more detailed planning.
