Christmas Markets

CHRISTMAS MARKET tours with the groups company appeal to those who enjoy the activities leading up to Christmas, the decorations, the bustle and fun of looking for those special gifts but like a taste of somewhere abroad to add that extra spice to the proceedings. Many of our northern and Central European neighbours seem to keep more of the traditional approach to Christmas shopping, with enormous Christmas trees, and a myriad of stalls crowded together under the bright lights of an old square. Many of the goods here are hand-crafted; wander these street markets and stroll amongst stalls loaded with presents, snacks and hot wine and other drinks, to taste a real flavour of the traditional approach to Christmas.
Some groups like to combine their market visits with more traditional sightseeing, whilst others are content to just browse the markets on an individual basis. Whether you want a mixture of activities or just full-on shopping is up to you and your group.

The Groups Company operates Christmas market tours to the following destinations:-
Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, and Poland.

A typical day
Our Christmas market groups are essentially short break holidays and most of your time will be given over to wandering the streets where the markets are held. After a leisurely breakfast the morning may be spent on a tour of the town or a sightseenig excursion to some point of interest close to town. Then the group may split up for lunch and an afternoon of browsing, snacking and exploring the stalls. Evenings are often left free for individual dining, but your group may choose to meet up and share stories of the day at an organised dinner.

Sample itineraries ...
The itineraries below are intended only to give an indication of what might be possible in a particular country, following an itinerary catering for a particular special interest.
No details of meals or accommodation are included in the itineraries as it would be your decision, at the planning stage, as to what is included. You would decide whether your tour included all meals, just Bed and Breakfast, or Bed and Breakfast plus some lunches or dinners at certain points on the itinerary. Similarly you would decide what standard of accommodation you wanted to use.

The itineraries detailed are deliberately short ones. It is intended to give a flavour, an outline, of an itinerary.  If you have more time, then extra time can be built into each stop on the itinerary, and additional places of interest and overnight stops can be added. Lengthening the itinerary, to 5 days or a week, for example, and adding further night-stops will enrich your journey; shown below is just a brief skeletal itinerary as a basis for discussion and more detailed planning.
