Chile could best be described as a long thin streak of a country since nowhere is it very wide but the distance from the northern part of the Atacama Desert, on the border with Peru, is a long way from the tip of Tierra Del Fuego, the southerly island Chile shares with Argentina. A journey from north to south involves crossing a desert, watching the peaks of a mountain chain away to the east, visiting a lakes region and sailing along a fiord-indented coastline with stunning scenery every mile of the way.
Little wonder then that PHOTOGRAPHY and PAINTING groups find much to enjoy in Chile. Outdoors too, particularly in the southerly Paine National Park there are walking trails that RAMBLING groups will find a challenge.
