Angola

Wildlife   Photography

Angola has been in the news in recent years for all the wrong reasons. Once a Portugese colony, since independence it has suffered some 27 years of civil war before peace came in 2002.
Rich in oil and diamonds its turbulent politics has nevertheless left the country impoverished with its people facing huge socio-economic problems. Some areas, paricularly Cabinda province in the north near the Congo border, are off-limits for travellers
So why go?
The southern area, close to the border with Namibia, is a long way from the troubled central and northern regions and the area of the Iona National Park and the coast will attract our WILDLIFE and PHOTOGRAPHY groups. We enter across the southern border with Namibia and this area of Angola, with its complete lack of visitors, gives a wonderful feeling of having the place to yourself. If your group want to travel somewhere off the usual tourist map and go somewhere different then Angola might just be the place to consider.
