Until quite recently the idea of visiting Libya seemed somewhere between an impossible dream and a crazy idea, as politics conspired to take the country off the map for would-be visitors. Times are changing and changing rapidly. The country is opening up to tourism and the many attractions it holds are becoming a part of many a traveller's plans.

The country divides roughly into two as far as the visitor is concerned; the cultural aspects of the north and the Mediterranean coast and the awesome scenery of the desert and the deep south.

The Roman site of Leptis Magna holds pride of place amongst the antiquities of Libya and this coastal site will inevitably be the highlight of any ARCHAEOLOGICAL tour to the country. The historical sites of the north vie with, or can be combined with, the immensity of the desert with its scenery just asking to be captured by the lens on a PHOTOGRAPHY tour or the brush on a PAINTING  group tour.
