Bowls Tours
Bowling holidays with the groups company appeal to people who want to play their game abroad in the company of friends, perhaps from their local bowls club, perhaps from elsewhere.
Some groups want only to play socially, every day, with no competitive element to the holiday; others prefer the stimulus of competition. This can be simply a series of matches between the members of the group, or for some groups the added excitement of an international match can be built in to the final days of the holiday. The groups company can arrange a series of competitions against local bowls clubs in the area in which you are staying, either as a mini-league or knock-out competition.
Some groups prefer a daily series of matches, with the holiday focused essentially on the greens; others prefer to bring along non-playing partners who may want to sightsee whilst the matches is under way. This may mean the holiday becomes a mixture of bowls and other activities.
With or without a competition or an international match to complete the holiday, we can tailor-make the experience as you wish.
You and your group choose the style of bowls holiday that you want.
We operate Bowling tours to the following destinations:-
Portugal, Spain, & South Africa.
A typical day...
After a leisurely breakfast the morning session may involve just practice, or may involve a warm-up match with friends amongst the group. After lunch a match – either a knock-out or a league competition – can be arranged, before a relaxing end to the afternoon leads into the evening and a pleasant dinner.
Two variations on the above may appeal:
Your group may decide that an exciting end to the holiday would be, after a few days spent acclimatising and fine-tuning their game, to take part in a match against one or more local bowls clubs based in the area you are visiting. The groups company can arrange this.
Or you may decide that, whilst bowls at one centre for the entire holiday is pleasant enough, travelling bowls may add a difference. This would see the group moving on to a different local after a couple of days, perhaps just for a change of venue or perhaps to take on another local club in a series of touring matches.
Bringing non-playing partners along will reduce the per-person cost of the holiday and add another dimension, with sightseeing – either for the non-players whilst the bowls happens, or for everyone if bowls is played in the morning and sightseeing is in the afternoon – built into the itinerary.
The exact format of the day is decided by you and your group at the planning stage of the holiday. You and your group choose the style of bowls holiday that you want.
Sample itineraries ...
The itineraries below are intended only to give an indication of what might be possible in a particular country, following an itinerary catering for a particular special interest.
No details of meals or accommodation are included in the itineraries as it would be your decision, at the planning stage, as to what is included. You would decide whether your tour included all meals, just Bed and Breakfast, or Bed and Breakfast plus some lunches or dinners at certain points on the itinerary. Similarly you would decide what standard of accommodation you wanted to use.
The itineraries detailed are deliberately short ones. It is intended to give a flavour, an outline, of an itinerary. If you have more time, then extra time can be built into each stop on the itinerary, and additional places of interest and overnight stops can be added. Lengthening the itinerary, to 10 days or two weeks, for example, and adding further night-stops will enrich your journey; shown below is just a brief skeletal itinerary as a basis for discussion and more detailed planning.
